Job Summary

A Maintenance Electrician vacancy now exists within the Building/Workshop department based in Tranent. This is a permanent full-time role. This role is to carry out electrical maintenance, repairs, and installation under the direction and supervision of the Electrical Supervisor or Senior Engineer.

Applicants Must Have:

• Qualified Electrician with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Full, clean driver's license and own transport
• Previous experience as a Maintenance Electrician
• Willingness to participate in overtime to ensure department smoothness
• Availability for out-of-hours emergency callouts on a rota basis
• Effective interaction with peers
• Methodical work approach
• Professional communication with internal and external clients
• Ability to deal with people at all levels
• Teamwork skills
• Excellent customer care skills
• Ability to work within tight timescales
• Positive can-do attitude

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical repair and maintenance services at Charles River Laboratories sites.
• Install electrical and computer wiring and systems per IEE regulations.
• Conduct portable appliance testing and maintain records.
• Maintain electrical equipment.
• Advise scientific staff on electrical apparatus and systems use.
• Monitor room temperatures and conditions; calibrate temperature and humidity sensors/equipment.
• Adjust room controls.
• Participate in generator testing and restart procedures.
• Coordinate with Plant Engineers and service engineers.
• Keep detailed records of work performed.
• Perform fault finding and diagnostic testing.
• Work on high voltage equipment if qualified.

Due to the role's nature, working outside normal hours and being part of a rotational on-call team is required, with an on-call allowance.

Ensure ability to make travel arrangements for work hours, overtime, weekends, evenings, and early mornings.

Salary: £40,000 per annum plus on-call allowance. Participation in the on-call rota is expected; details provided upon employment. Payment ceases if participation ends.
