This is an exciting opportunity to join the Kedleston team and shape our brand new provision in the heart of London.

We are currently seeking to appoint a talented and inspirational Deputy Headteacher. This is a key role within our Senior Leadership Team at Mapesbury School; a fantastic opportunity for someone with drive, enthusiasm and high aspirations to work in partnership with the Headteacher and other leaders to make a real difference to our school and young people. You will lead by example and inspire and develop others, building on our many successes and driving forward school improvement. The right candidate should have a good track record in aspirational and inspirational teaching and learning and should be expert in building strong relationships with pupils, families and staff. You will be able to mentor and coach colleagues to develop their behaviour management and teaching and learning, supporting inclusion in the classroom.

Our curriculum is designed to suit the needs and abilities of our pupils, recognising that there may be substantial gaps in their education. Regardless of their starting point we will help our students raise their aspirations, renew their self-belief, and help them to achieve their potential, moving on to their next steps in life with confidence. Our academic standards are high, our expectations ambitious, and we are relentless in our quest for further improvement.

This role is to start October 2024.

About you:

We are looking for a qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) who, ideally, has experience of working within a SEN setting, a passion for supporting young people to learn and develop, but more importantly, someone who wants to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people. We would love to hear from you if you are committed, empathetic, compassionate, resourceful and your standards are high.

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and engaging Deputy Headteacher; someone who can help shape and deliver a shared vision for the future and who will take an effective lead on behaviour and attendance ensuring an inclusive environment where no pupil is left behind and all pupils have the support and challenge to be the best they can be. You will support the SLT to develop and support behaviour and attendance provision as well as manage effective inclusion of all pupils across the school.

You must be able to:

· develop excellent provision for our wonderful pupils and their families

· lead and develop our committed staff team

· work effectively with governors, corporate colleagues and other partners

· be highly motivated, enthusiastic, skilled and solution focused

· have a good track record of raising standards and leadership

· be committed to developing positive behaviour

· be an exceptional leader and be able to get the best out of others

· drive school improvement, relishing the challenge of creating our future

· lead on maintaining excellent standards in the quality of education and welfare of all

· live the schools’ values

Why work for us?

· a competitive salary

· a comprehensive induction programme so you can hit the ground running

· continued professional development and training

· Teachers’ pension contributions for qualified teachers

· a friendly, passionate team committed to getting the best outcomes for our young people

Benefits include:

· OFSTED bonuses

· cycle to work scheme and laptop loans

· discounts on cinema trips, electronics, fashion, home and garden, travel, groceries, gifts, utilities, health and fitness

· birthday treats

· long service and employee of the month awards

· employee assistance and counselling service, wellbeing support and advice

Mapesbury School, part of Kedleston Group Limited, is an independent specialist day school and children’s home in London for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 17 and who have autism (ASC) and other specific learning difficulties.

Kedleston Group Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its children and young people and we expect all staff to share this commitment. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. You will remain vigilant and act swiftly if you have concerns about a child and be an appropriate role model for both children and colleagues at all times.

The successful candidate is required to provide references and will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS check. We will ask you to complete a criminal self-declaration form, and we will conduct online searches for information that is publicly available. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
