Job Title: European Financial Controller
Location: Cheshire (Hybrid working 2–3 days in office)
Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 + Bonus

Our Client is a dynamic, rapidly expanding business based in Cheshire with operations across multiple European jurisdictions. With ambitious growth plans and increasing complexity, are Client is looking to appoint a technically strong and commercially aware European Financial Controller to lead our regional financial reporting, tax compliance, and statutory obligations. Stand alone role, no staff.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the European Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations across several European entities. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent knowledge of local statutory accounting standards, VAT, and cross-border tax issues. You will be a key contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and local finance teams, ensuring group-wide compliance and integrity of financial reporting.
Lead financial reporting across European subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local GAAP and group policies
Oversee preparation of statutory accounts and audit coordination for each jurisdiction
Manage and review VAT, indirect tax, and corporate tax filings across multiple countries
Ensure compliance with all local and international tax regulations
Collaborate with local finance teams and advisors to improve reporting and internal controls
Support group consolidation and month-end close process
Drive process improvements and system efficiencies across the finance function
Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure consistent accounting treatment across the group
Support strategic projects, acquisitions, and international expansion as needed
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
Strong technical accounting expertise (IFRS and local GAAPs)
In-depth understanding of VAT and tax across multiple European jurisdictions
Experience working in a multi-entity, multi-country environment
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities
Experience with ERP systems and Excel; knowledge of consolidation tools a plus
Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 per annum
