Project Engineer
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between the company and customers.
- Prepare and release shop (work) orders.
- Prepare and release Material Requisitions for Purchasing.
- Complete Package Bills of Material.
- Sizing and selection of instrumentation.
- Review and apply customer specifications.
- Adhere to the project schedule and report any changes to the scheduler.
- Communicate and coordinate with all departments across the organization.
- Review and approve drawings to meet package, customer, and Code requirements, including PFDs, P&IDs, 3D models, and GAs.
- Process piping systems.
- Pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
- Non‑Code equipment such as reconcentrators and atmospheric tanks.
- Structural steel.
- Subcontractor drawings for pumps, aerial coolers, etc.
- Create Change Orders with pricing.
- Collaborate with process engineers and the applications group, as required.
- Develop, review, and approve package simulations.
- Perform and approve all major process‑related vessel and line sizing.
- Final review and selection of all major process‑related sub‑vendor buyout equipment.
- Perform overall package hydraulic calculations.
- Review PSV sizing, including inlet/outlet tail pipes and overall flare header sizing.
- Review control valve sizing.
- Perform Over Pressure Protection by System Design (OPPSD) analysis.
- Participate in package HAZOPs.
- Develop and approve all process‑related project documentation, including Operating Manual, Control Philosophy, and Shutdown Key.
- Ensure accuracy of job quality requirements.
- Perform P&ID walk‑down of final package to ensure compliance with design.
- Support all installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Participate in internal job reviews to improve processes and efficiencies.
- Contribute to the advancement and development of the company's product portfolio.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Professional engineering license (P.Eng) or eligibility to register (PMP certification is an asset).
- Relevant experience in project engineering, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Working knowledge of gas processing and fabrication.
- Knowledge of industry codes such as ASME Section VIII and B31.3.
- Familiarity with sizing/selection of pressure piping and instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets and drawings.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as MS Teams and Bluebeam.
- Strong client service, communication, and collaboration skills. Attention to detail, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Adaptable to changing priorities; analytical thinker with strong problem‑solving skills and a continuous learning mindset.
- Dependable self‑starter who takes ownership and responsibility for assigned work.
