Key Responsibilities :
Security Operations :
- Oversee asset protection for both people and property, preventing theft and inventory / stock loss.
- Analyze and evaluate security operations to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Supervise, recruit, and appoint security service providers.
- Train staff on security rules and procedures.
- Set and manage budgets for security operations.
- Attend meetings, seminars, or conferences to stay updated on legislative changes and new technologies.
- Assist in emergency management and contingency planning.
- Prepare reports and presentations on internal investigations, losses, or policy violations.
- Communicate security status, updates, and potential problems using established protocols.
- Participate in site investigations and report findings.
- Develop work schedules, allocate tasks, and monitor staff performance.
Procedures and Processes :
- Create and implement security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Write and review security-related documents, such as incident reports and strategic initiatives.
- Respond to bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms following emergency response procedures.
- Recommend security procedures for access control.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve security breaches, coordinating appropriate responses.
- Monitor and manage security policies to ensure compliance with internal and government requirements.
- Conduct physical examinations of property to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Qualification in Safety, Security, Environment, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in defining and managing security compliance systems.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management position.
- Experience in FMCG security is highly advantageous.
- Extensive experience in preventing illegal activity and performing access control.
- In-depth knowledge of security procedures and surveillance equipment.
- Knowledge of security industry regulations and South African legislation.
