Job summary

A human resources agency is seeking a Health & Safety Officer for their Stellenbosch location. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the OHS Act and legal standards while managing documentation, security, and quality management systems. With a requirement of five years' experience and a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Safety Management, the candidate will need to demonstrate strong analytical problem-solving skills and experience in occupational health and safety. Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience with a technical background in a similar environment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify complex situations.

  • Ensure compliance with the OHS Act and legal standards.
  • Ensure that all documents meet OHS requirements and staff training is current.
  • Responsible for security for OWS and LGD.
  • Compliance with QMS protocols and procedures.

Health & Safety Officer – Koelenhof / Stellenbosch.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Buildings/Grounds Compliance
    • Ensures compliance in relation to the OHS act and legal standards
  • Document Control
    • Ensures that all documents meet OHS act and legal requirements and standards, and that staff training is current
  • M & E, and Vehicle Compliance
    • Ensures compliance in relation to the OHS act and legal standards
  • Security
    • Responsible for security for OWS and LGD
  • Quality Management Systems
    • Compliance with QMS protocol and procedures
  • Contractor Controls/Risk Management
    • Ensures compliance in relation to the OHS act requirements and legal standards
  • Health, Safety and Housekeeping
    • Compliance with statutory requirements, policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Five years’ experience with a technical background in a similar environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Safety Management.
  • ISOPH02 Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience (in a corporate environment advantageous) in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
  • Mechanical maintenance and Project management skills, Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, Product and production process knowledge
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify complex situations
  • Microsoft Office, (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP system. In depth knowledge of the Prerequisite Programmes ISOPE01 & ISOP02.
  • In depth knowledge of HACCP Plan for glass and Bib Filing
