Commercial And Personal Lines Underwriting Manager
Job summary
A risk management firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Commercial and Personal Lines Underwriting Manager. The role focuses on leading a team, ensuring compliance in underwriting processes, and maintaining relationships with insurers. The ideal candidate will have experience in the field and strong management skills. This is a full-time position at a mid-senior level in the insurance industry.

- Experience in underwriting, preferably in commercial and personal lines.

Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and develop the underwriting team.
- Ensure underwriting tasks meet service level agreements.
- Manage underwriting processes according to insurer guidelines.

Duties shall include but not be limited to the following :
- Recruit, orient and train team

- Ensure best practice by regular monitoring and auditing of work carried out by the team
- Apply cost saving and efficiency principals to underwriting tasks were applicable
- Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Build a team that delivers towards HRMS service standards and vision of being "Broker Of Choice"
- Manage underwriting mandates / processes in line with insurer and internal guidelines
- Ensure that underwriting tasks are dealt with according to industry regulations and Hereford standard
- Manage complaints
- Compiling necessary report for feedback to senior management and insurers
- Effective oversight of the renewal process
- Ensure records on CRM and Policy management systems are accurate and in accordance with agreed processes and guidelines
- Design reports for the effective management and oversight of mandates, service level agreements, processes, and compliance matters
- Staff training & competence (product, and systems)
- Complaints Management
- Percentage of book on binder (conversion of existing book as well as new business)
- Revenue Retention and Growth
- Quality Assurance (Adherence to procedure, regulations and service standards)
