A professional governance body in Johannesburg is hiring a Deputy Student Manager to support student administration functions. The role requires managing registrations, academic records, and guiding students. The Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa (CGISA) is the professional body for company secretaries and governance professionals across Southern Africa. CGISA provides internationally recognised qualifications and supports its members through technical resources, training, and professional development. Committed to promoting ethical and effective governance, the institute plays an active role in shaping governance standards across the region, including contributions to frameworks like the King Reports.
The CGISA is seeking a Deputy Student Manager to support key student administration functions within the Institute. Based in Killarney, Johannesburg, this permanent role manages registrations, exemptions, academic records, assignments, and work‑experience processes while providing timely guidance to students. The position calls for strong administrative skills, excellent communication, and the ability to handle high query volumes professionally. Experience in academic administration or familiarity with the education sector would be an advantage.
Register new and existing students in accordance with institutional policies.
Convert and retain returning students through proactive engagement and support.
Manage the exemptions process.
Work on the student information management system.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Process academic records.
Liaise with skills development (tuition) providers.
Manage the assignments process.
Manage the work experience process.
Provide guidance to students on academic processes.
Address numerous enquiries from students.
Provide support to the student manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
A degree such as a B Ed, BA, B Com, or CGISA qualification.
Experience in academic administration would be advantageous.
Understanding of the education sector would be advantageous.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle high volumes of student interactions with professionalism.
