Chief Operating Officer - Telecommunications & Distribution

An ambitious and growth-focused organisation within the telecommunications and wholesale distribution industry is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Chief Operating Officer to join its executive leadership team. This role presents a rare opportunity to lead full operational execution, with a potential path of stepping into the CEO role within the next 2 to 3 years.

The business is entering an exciting phase of national expansion and is looking for an operational leader with the strategic foresight and hands-on capability to drive transformation, digitisation, and scale. You will report directly to the CEO and engage with the Board, playing a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s vision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring consistent delivery and execution aligned to strategic goals.
• Take full P&L ownership, ensuring financial and operational performance across all business units.
• Manage and oversee the successful implementation of systems and operational processes.
• Lead change management initiatives across teams and functions to support a culture of innovation and growth.
• Foster collaboration across leadership, operations, and delivery teams to build scalable business practices.
• Partner with the CEO and Board to align business strategies with execution plans and performance outcomes.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

• Proven P&L management experience, preferably in businesses with revenue of R100 million plus.
• Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation and system implementations.
• Track record of developing go-to-market strategies and delivering commercial results.
• Experience driving innovation and entrepreneurial growth within a business.
• Strong leadership capability with an ability to manage change, inspire teams, and foster a performance-driven culture.
• Relevant business-related tertiary qualification.
