We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chief Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and repair of all vehicles, machinery, and equipment used in our plantation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the mechanical team and ensuring all machinery functions efficiently to support day-to-day field operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Schedule and conduct preventive maintenance for tractors, harvesters, trucks, and other plantation machinery.
Supervise and manage a team of mechanics helpers.
Evaluate minor mechanical problems and inspect repairs completed.
Perform major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles.
Schedules, assigns, or performs general overhaul and repair work on light and heavy vehicles and equipment such as trucks, tractors, bulldozers, excavators, farm tractors, backhoes, tipper trucks, rollers, and all types of machinery in the estates.
Look into preventive maintenance and the tuning and adjustment of parts for maximum performance of the vehicle and the types of machinery for the group.
Analyse engine performance and perform tuning as and when needed.
Able to do welding and perform minor body work repairs.
Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records.
Perform other tasks when assigned by the Supervisor/ Management from time to time.
Job Requirements:
At least 6 years of work experience as a mechanic.
Good Command in Bahasa Malaysia
Preferably specialized in heavy machinery
Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently.
Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair.
Advanced knowledge of light and heavy vehicles maintenance and repair.
Work irregular hours as needed.
Ability to work in oil palm plantations located in rural and remote areas.
