Our Client a leading bank in Asia with a global network of more than 500 branches and offices in 19 countries and territories in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America, are looking for Data Engineers. The Technology and Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance, and planning support and services. They work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising, and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Malaysia and overseas branches. The client has more than 80 years of history in the banking industry and is expanding its footprint in Malaysia. You will be working in a newly set‑up technology centre located in Kuala Lumpur as part of Technology and Operations to deliver innovative financial technology solutions that enable business growth and technology transformation.
- Design, develop, and enhance backend services, APIs, and integrations for Digital Banking applications.
- Work with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Oracle to build secure and scalable microservices.
- Develop and maintain XML‑based interfaces and REST/SOAP APIs for system integration.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including UI developers, architects, and business analysts, to deliver high‑quality releases.
- Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and performance tuning.
- Participate in deployment, troubleshooting, and production support as required.
- Contribute to DevOps and Agile practices for continuous delivery and improvement.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design diagrams, and management reports.
- 6-9 years of hands‑on experience in backend development using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Database, SQL, and XML.
- Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
- Solid understanding of HPUX, Linux, or Solaris environments.
- Proven experience in performance tuning, error handling, and secure coding practices.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with Apache Camel (CXF), Spring Batch, and WebLogic Portal.
- Exposure to JavaScript, JSP, and Unix scripting for automation and integration tasks.
- Understanding of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Familiarity with management reporting or dashboarding tools.
