As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank - Payments Technology Space, you will be part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering payment capabilities to global markets. You will be responsible for developing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas to support the firm’s business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, employing innovative approaches to resolve technical challenges.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug code written by peers.
- Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to enhance operational stability.
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and system integration.
- Contribute to fostering a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal experience with software engineering concepts and practical application.
- Extensive Java development experience (version 17 or higher) with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
- Experience in developing cloud-native applications (12-factor app), including RESTful microservices, containers, and scalable platforms.
- Proficiency in Test Driven Development using JUnit, Mockito, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or related container platforms.
- Experience deploying cloud-native applications, ideally on AWS or Kubernetes.
- Experience with message bus technologies such as Kafka or AMPS.
- Experience developing open-source or internal libraries integrated into applications by other teams.
- Experience working on high-throughput, mission-critical, high-performance platforms.
- Knowledge of two or more database technologies, such as Oracle, Cassandra, or in-memory databases/caches.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Previous experience in a DevOps-focused environment and understanding of DevOps principles.
- Experience with Settlement, Clearing, or Post Trade Processing platforms is a plus.
- Prior experience in the financial industry is advantageous.
