A local government authority in Chelmsford is seeking a Planning Contributions Admin Support Officer to provide essential administrative support for community infrastructure projects. This role involves preparing liability notices, processing invoices, and engaging with the public. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn, with flexibility to work 22 hours per week. There is an opportunity for hybrid working after the probationary period.
Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and ready to make a real impact in your community? Join our Planning Contributions team as a Planning Contributions Admin Support Officer and play a vital role in supporting the delivery of essential infrastructure, such as new schools, improvements to parks, transport and healthcare.
In this role, the successful applicant will provide crucial administrative support to ensure the smooth collection of the Community Infrastructure Levy, Building Safety Levy, and other funding streams. A day-to-day will include preparing liability notices, monitoring payments, processing invoices, and responding to public enquiries. Working closely with colleagues across Planning and Building Control to deliver an excellent service.
We’re looking for someone with a proactive approach and excellent attention to detail who can accurately work to deadlines using different software.
Knowledge of planning, building control, or local government is desirable, but not essential - if you’re willing to learn, we’ll provide training to help you succeed.
If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment and want to contribute to shaping Chelmsford’s future, we’d love to hear from you!
The successful applicant will be required to work 22 hours per week. We offer flexibility to work various days/hours with approval, but there is a requirement to be available on a Wednesday. The main work location is the Civic Centre in Chelmsford and there will be the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis following the probationary period.
Interviews are currently scheduled for the 20th & 21st January 2026.
Please note should sufficient applications be received prior to the closing date, we may close the role for applications early.
