Reporting to the Director of Land, Planning and External Affairs, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing an integrated engagement and communications strategy for the SI business unit. Strategic Infrastructure (SI) is a dedicated business unit within National Grid focused on delivering significant projects that support the UK's transition to a cleaner, greener energy system. Your efforts will ensure consistent and impactful communication across all channels, engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
We are also offering hybrid /flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need.
Base location for this role will be The Strand, London.What You'll Do- Strategic Development: Support the creation of a forward-looking corporate affairs strategy that aligns with the functional and business-unit priorities of SI.
- Best-in-Class Provision: Ensure that the SI business unit receives top-notch corporate affairs support by collaborating with Corporate Affairs Centres of Excellence (COEs) in Public Affairs, Brand and Communications, and Social Impact.
- Insightful Recommendations: Contribute to the development of the business unit’s strategic plan by providing insights based on external trends and stakeholder concerns.
- Communications Strategy: Help develop the SI communications strategy in line with National Grid’s standards and vision.
- External Representation: Represent the SI business unit in discussions with policymakers and industry bodies, ensuring a cohesive approach in collaboration with COEs.
- Campaign Coordination: Collaborate with COEs to design and implement multi-channel influence campaigns and manage stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Crisis Management: Develop and implement plans to address potential crises impacting the business unit’s reputation, ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.
- Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic insights to SI and COEs on standards, frameworks, and best practices.
About You- Proven Experience: A track record in developing and implementing strategic plans that align with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials and community groups.
- Corporate Affairs Expertise: Experience in a corporate affairs environment, with a strong understanding of reputation management challenges.
- Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work collaboratively across different business units to achieve common goals.
- Campaign Design: Proven ability to design and execute multi-channel influence campaigns and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to assess data and trends, providing insights that inform strategic planning.
- Leadership Qualities: Experience in leading and mentoring teams, fostering professional development and growth.
- Construction Knowledge: Experience within construction, civil engineering, or large-scale infrastructure projects would be beneficial.

What You'll GetA competitive salary between £74,000 - £87,000 - dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
