Job Title: IT Support Apprentice
Location: Hull
Salary: £7.55 per Hour (National Minimum Apprentice Wage)
Hours/Weeks: 40 Hours per week/52 Weeks per year
Eligibility:
Please note that this is an apprenticeship position and therefore anyone with more than six months professional experience working in a relevant job role or who holds relevant professional qualifications, or a tech degree will not be eligible. You will also need to commit to completing a Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship.
About The Role
Are you looking to launch your career in IT? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated IT Support Apprentice to join our dynamic team. As an integral part of our IT Department, you will gain hands-on experience supporting a diverse range of users—including office staff, engineers, and management—across multiple sites. Under expert guidance, you’ll develop skills in setting up systems, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer hardware and networks.
Key Responsibilities
As our IT Support Apprentice, you will:
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and first-line repairs of ICT hardware including servers, computers, laptops, iPads, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and telephones.
- Support software installations, updates, and maintenance tasks.
- Help maintain and update the hardware and software database and inventory.
- Support the administration and security of our network systems, including managing group policies, user profiles/accounts, and email systems.
- Ensure technology systems comply with GDPR standards.
- Conduct regular ICT health checks of equipment and ensure safe maintenance standards.
- Assist with booking and managing the allocation of IT resources for office staff and engineers.
- Provide support during disaster recovery scenarios and in the maintenance of our CCTV system.
- Educate staff on best practices in using ICT resources and promote eSafety awareness.
- Monitor and assist in managing our telephone system and other communication tools.
- Support the purchasing process for consumables, equipment, software, and services.
- Aid in the recording and reporting of IT-related incidents.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum: 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
- Desirable: you have studied a tech-related subject at Level 3 such as BTEC IT, A Level computer science etc.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous work experience is beneficial—even if not directly within IT.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
