Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Area Laboratories Systems Manager based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do

As Deputy Area Laboratories Systems Manager, you will provide support to the Area Laboratories Systems Manager in developing and maintaining the Area Laboratories’ Laboratory Information System, and the investigation, evaluation and reporting on the suitability of any proposed new software and systems. Alongside the Area Laboratories Systems Manager, you will be responsible for the integrity and security of databases held within the laboratory services, and for maintaining links for the electronic transfer of results for electronic reporting within acute services and primary care.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job

You should hold an appropriate master’s degree or be able to demonstrate relevant specialist knowledge to an equivalent level. You must have a highly developed specialist knowledge of operational diagnostic Medical Laboratory Technology and of relevant Information Technology, underpinned by theory and extensive experience. This will require an in-depth specialist knowledge of laboratory IM&T procedures acquired through extensive professional training and experience. You should have experience at a senior level in a hospital laboratory and experience of IT operations, maintenance and management or be in a position to demonstrate similar levels of experience and achievement if from a non-NHS or non-laboratory background.

In addition, the Deputy Area Laboratory Systems Manager will be required to:

  • Have maintained, improved and updated their professional knowledge and skills and participated in CPD.
  • Investigate and resolve computing issues within the laboratory and hence must possess a highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and practice, of a wide range of laboratory procedures.
  • To have a detailed knowledge of the various modules that comprises the WinPath suite of programs.
  • To have a knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on the version of Windows currently in use.
Hours

37 hours per week

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership

A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
