Job summary
An IT recruitment firm is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer in Bristol to manage core IT infrastructure and respond to escalated incidents. This hybrid role requires extensive knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and cloud services such as Azure and AWS. Ideal candidates will have a strong technical support background and a proactive approach to IT security. Competitive salary offered up to £45,000.
Qualifications
- Proven 3rd line / senior technical support experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
- Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery solutions.

- Managing and maintaining core infrastructure including servers and networking.

3rd Line Support Engineer
Location: Bristol - Hybrid/Onsite
Salary: Up to £45,000
We're looking for an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join a growing IT team and play a pivotal role in supporting, maintaining, and securing business-critical systems. Acting as an escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support, this role will give you the opportunity to work with a wide range of modern technologies while delivering projects that make a real impact.
- Acting as the go-to point for escalated incidents and complex service requests
- Managing and maintaining core infrastructure including servers, storage, networking, and cloud platforms
- Ensuring IT security best practices are followed, including patching, vulnerability remediation, and access management
- Administering backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Acronis and Azure Backup
- Overseeing Windows Server environments (2012-2022), Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS and DHCP
- Supporting and securing cloud environments (Azure and AWS)
- Administering Microsoft Exchange and Office 365
- Delivering IT projects from planning through to successful completion
- Maintaining clear documentation and contributing to internal knowledge sharing
- Proven 3rd line / senior technical support experience
- Strong skills across Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, Exchange/Office 365
- Hands-on knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation
- Familiarity with firewall management, VLAN creation, LAN/WAN troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Awareness of compliance frameworks (Cyber Essentials Plus, PCI DSS, ISO, CoCo)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a security-first mindset
