We are seeking a Bakery & Confectionery Application Technologist (m/f/d) for an international Food Ingredients Distributor operating in Europe and Africa. The applications include chocolate, coatings, compounds, baked goods (including savory snacks), bakery enzymes, confectionery (e.g., gummies, dragees, candies), fine bakery glazes, fillings, and bars.
The role involves:
- Serving as an expert in both theoretical and practical aspects of specific application areas.
- Identifying market trends and translating them into recipes, concepts, and campaigns.
- Developing expertise in new ingredients, exploring their synergies, and creating application-focused knowledge.
- Designing and delivering application training programs and client seminars.
- Acting as the primary contact for Technical Sales Managers requiring application support for key projects.
Location: Can be based in a home office in Western or Eastern Europe.
Key Tasks:
- Technical Support and Development
- Develop concepts, campaigns, and recipes using a wide range of ingredients, tailored to local preferences.
- Provide technical support on ingredients, formulations, and processes for key projects to enhance service levels.
Training and Knowledge Sharing- Design and conduct training programs to enhance the technical expertise of TSMs.
- Collaborate to identify global trends and document learnings from trials and testing.
Client Interaction and Trials- Design trial protocols and provide expertise during client visits and lab trials.
- Support key clients at their facilities to advance projects.
Supplier and Regulatory Engagement- Engage with suppliers' labs and technical teams to stay updated on ingredient developments.
- Assess new ingredients and stay informed on EU regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Food Technology or related field with 5+ years of experience, or vocational certification with 20+ years of relevant experience.
- Deep technological knowledge in application areas within the segments.
- Proven ability to design and execute complex experiments.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on value-added ingredients.
- Creative, innovative thinking and strong communication skills.
- Proactive, analytical, and supportive approach.
- Willingness to travel (~60%), including regular lab presence.
