Summary

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to support our evolving Communications team. If you have a passion for impactful visual storytelling, thrive in a collaborative environment, and enjoy designing across multiple platforms, this is an exciting opportunity to help bring DCC’s brand and communications to life.

What You Bring

You are a creative visual communicator known for delivering high-quality concepts and designs for a variety of corporate projects. As the internal expert on accessible design, you convert documents and content to accessible formats in line with accessibility guidelines. You collaborate with colleagues across business units, participate in intake meetings, present design concepts, and refine your work based on feedback to meet project goals.

You’re flexible and hands-on—equally comfortable creating eye-catching digital banners as you are handling the nuts and bolts of document layout and production. You’re ready to pitch in wherever needed, whether the task is creative design or essential day-to-day support for communications projects.

Your Opportunity And Responsibilities

As the sole in-house Graphic Designer, you’ll be the go-to resource for a wide range of graphic needs. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of projects—from designing digital banners, posters and signage to updating web content, you’ll support everything from sizing photographs, preparing logo files, and relaying tables in translated documents, to resizing graphics, and designing new visuals from native files supplied by external agencies. You’ll collaborate with colleagues from across the organization, present your creative ideas, and bring concepts to life while building your expertise in accessible design. Whether you’re brainstorming in creative meetings or supporting day-to-day communications needs, you’ll develop valuable professional skills and see your work make a real impact within a supportive, growth-focused team.

Your Skills, Experience, And Fit

  • Minimum: College diploma (or equivalent undergraduate degree) in graphic design, desktop publishing, or a related field, with at least two years’ relevant experience as a graphic designer in a corporate environment and/or creative agency.
  • Preferred: Experience in animation and/or web development; familiarity with the Accessible Canada Act and accessible documents.
  • Specialized knowledge of graphic design principles, trends, and relevant software (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Familiarity with formatting documents in MS Word, Excel and PPT.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and communications best practices.
  • Strong understanding and application of accessibility standards for documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide functional advice and guidance to team members.
  • Experience working in web-building platforms is an asset.

Meet the team

Join a collaborative communications team that works like an in-house agency, supporting a variety of business units and projects. As our group adapts to new priorities, you’ll be part of a creative, supportive environment focused on achieving results. Here, you can grow your skills, help shape DCC’s mission, and enjoy a strong culture where people know they are valued—as reflected in our 93% employee retention rate and our recognition on the Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers in 2022.
