Job Title: Project administrator

Our client based in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Administrator – Site Department to support the successful completing of steel construction and erection projects.

Requirements:

• 2–3 years of administrative experience in the steel or construction industry.
• Understanding of structural steel erection, related terminology, and site safety practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience with construction tools such as Procore, Aconex, Tekla, or AutoCAD Viewer is an asset.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail in logistics tracking.
• Clear and effective communication skills for interfacing with diverse teams.
• Familiarity with lifting and rigging procedures in steel erection environments.
• Diploma or certification in Business Administration, Construction Management, or Engineering Support preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support to Site and Project Managers throughout all project phases.
• Coordinate and maintain records related to material deliveries, steel erection schedules, lift plans, and inspection reports.
• Monitor project timelines, identifying and reporting delays or issues as they arise.
• Prepare and maintain daily site documentation, including site reports, manpower logs, and equipment usage records.
• Track the progress of steel fabrication and delivery, ensuring timely updates to all stakeholders.
• Assist in scheduling cranes, sequencing steel erection activities, and coordinating with subcontractors.
• Maintain QA/QC documentation such as weld maps, inspection checklists, and non-conformance reports.
• Ensure proper document control for drawings, revisions, and steel-related method statements.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and site documentation.
• Support safety compliance through up-to-date logs, toolbox talk records, and induction documentation.
• Handle all site-related correspondence, meeting minutes, and follow-up actions.
• Split between office and active construction site environments.
• Frequent coordination with fabrication facilities, transport logistics, and erection crews.
