Job summary
A leading safety solutions provider is looking for a Safety Representative in Johannesburg to enhance workplace safety. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on hazard identification and incident investigation. A strong background in OHS legislation and excellent communication skills are essential to promote a positive safety culture.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 45001 standards, and workplace safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Investigate and document workplace accidents and incidents.
- Monitor adherence to Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Promote safety awareness and conduct safety inductions.
- Maintain up-to-date safety records and reports.

Education
Available vacancy for a Safety Representative with 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Responsible for hazard identification, incident investigation, compliance monitoring, training, and record-keeping.

To promote and maintain a safe working environment by identifying potential hazards, investigating workplace incidents, reviewing and monitoring safety measures, and serving as a key liaison between employees and management on all health and safety matters.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviours.
- Report and document identified hazards and recommend corrective actions to management.
- Participate in risk assessments and ensure implementation of control measures.
- Investigate and document workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Identify root causes and assist in implementing preventive measures.
- Prepare and submit incident reports in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, company policies, and procedures.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of current health and safety measures.
- Participate in internal and external safety audits and inspections.
- Accompany Department of Labour or other regulatory inspectors during site visits.
- Promote safety awareness and assist in conducting safety inductions and toolbox talks.
- Communicate safety concerns and improvement suggestions between employees and management.
- Support safety campaigns and initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.
- Maintain up-to-date safety records, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
- Assist in preparing monthly safety statistics and reports for management review.
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
- Health and Safety Representative Certificate or equivalent qualification (required)
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 45001 standards, and workplace safety procedures
