About the position

A world renowned manufacturer is looking for a Maintenance Manager to carry the GMR2.7 appointment, specifically for the Power and Utilities Business Unit at the world class plant in Richards Bay. If you are a GCC qualified engineer with managerial experience and a passion for the industry, please apply to join this dynamic organisation.
Minimum Requirement

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (B.Eng, [URL Removed] Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum NQF level 7 qualification.
• Certificated Engineer (Government Certificate of Competency, Factories).
• Min of 5 years within the maintenance and engineering function in a heavy industry environment (steel processing, mining, packaging etc.).
• Min of 3 years in the role of maintenance management or in a senior engineering discipline role within this environment.
• Experience in maintenance management.
• Experience in the management of the following core engineering processes:
  • Management of compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, #85 of 1993.
  • People performance and development management.
  • Maintenance quality management.
  • Shutdown management.
  • Budgeting and cost management.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Effective management of safety during the execution of maintenance activities
• Legal appointment [URL Removed] and support to the GMR2.1 in compliance to the
• Execution of machine-related statutory activities.
• Proactive management of the personal development of all maintenance execution team members.
• Ensuring engagement and high-performance within these teams.
• Management and oversight of the quality of the execution of maintenance activities
• Effective risk mitigation relating to technical change within the plant.
• Effective management of equipment and process risk, through engagement with the production teams to achieve the most effective balance of plant risk and output.
• Maintaining the required condition of plant and equipment.
• Ensuring the execution compliance of maintenance activities against the defined
• maintenance strategies.
• Engagement with production teams to realise the most effective balance of work week compliance and plant output.
• Efficient oversight of non-CMMS actions and tasks within the maintenance teams
• (RCFA tasks, etc.).
• Effective management of the maintenance execution team against the principles of the work order management process (WOMP).
• Management of the applicable elements within the ‘repairable’ process to ensure effective turnaround of repairable spare parts.
• Ensure compliance to the shutdown schedule for the plant.
• Further to this, engagement with the Business Unit Head and Production Manager to realise the most effective balance of shutdown schedule compliance and plant output
• Compilation of budgets for human, time, and cost resourcing, as per routine process.
• Compliance to the defined cost budgets (maintenance spend).
• Provide support to the Engineering and CMS departments in medium- and long term processes (Capex planning, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.)
• Provide support to the Engineering and CMS departments in continuous development of maintenance processes and resource models (cost budgets, shutdown schedules, spare parts management, etc.)
