Civil Construction Safety Officer

Location: this position is site-based

We are seeking a Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by conducting inspections, enforcing safety regulations, and promoting a culture of health and safety on construction sites.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct site safety audits, inspections and hazard identification.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with the OSH Act and company policies.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, recommending corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of audits, incidents and training.
  • Support emergency preparation and response planning.
  • Advise supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
  • Assess subcontractor and SMME safety performance.
  • To promote a proactive safety culture and lead by example.
Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree or NQF Level 5 qualification in SHE Management or a related field.
  • SACPCMP registration as a Safety Officer is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a construction safety role.
