Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Factory Technician. To provide technical support and maintenance services in the production department of the factory, ensuring efficient operation of machinery and equipment to meet production targets and quality standards.

Core Activities:

1. Assembly and Production:

• The primary responsibility of a factory technician would be to participate in the assembly and production of sockets and plugs. This includes following assembly instructions, operating machinery, and ensuring that products are assembled correctly and efficiently.

1. Quality Control Inspection:

• Conducting quality control inspections on finished products to ensure that they meet the company's quality standards and specifications. This may involve visual inspections, measurements, and functional testing to identify any defects or issues.

1. Maintenance and Repair:

• Performing routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing process to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. This includes tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.

1. Troubleshooting:

• Identifying and diagnosing technical issues or problems that arise during the production process, such as equipment malfunctions or assembly errors. Factory technicians should have the skills to troubleshoot these issues quickly and effectively to minimize downtime.

1. Inventory Management:

• Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure adequate supplies for production. This may involve tracking inventory levels, replenishing supplies, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages

• Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. This includes following safety procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any safety hazards or incidents.

1. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to production activities, quality control inspections, maintenance tasks, and inventory management. This may involve completing production reports, logging maintenance activities, and documenting any issues or incidents that occur during the production process.

Core Decisions:

1. Equipment Setup and Configuration:
   • Deciding on the setup and configuration of machinery and equipment for the production process. This includes selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures, and settings to ensure efficient and accurate assembly of sockets and plugs.
2. Quality Control Criteria:
   • Determining the criteria and standards for quality control inspections of finished products. This includes setting tolerances, specifications, and acceptance criteria to ensure that products meet the required quality standards.
3. "Maintenance Scheduling:
   • Deciding when to schedule routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. This includes determining the frequency of maintenance activities based on usage, production schedules, and equipment specifications.
4. Resource Allocation:
   • Allocating resources such as manpower, materials, and machinery effectively to optimize production output and minimize downtime. This includes assigning tasks, prioritizing work orders, and coordinating resources to meet production targets.
5. Problem-Solving Approaches:
   • Deciding on appropriate problem-solving approaches to address technical issues or challenges that arise during the production process. This includes identifying root causes, evaluating alternative solutions, and implementing corrective actions to resolve problems and minimize disruptions.
6. Process Improvement Initiatives:
   • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and recommending changes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in the production process. This includes suggesting modifications to equipment, procedures, or workflows to streamline operations and increase productivity.
7. Safety Protocols and Procedures:
   • Making decisions related to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This includes enforcing safety regulations, implementing safety training programs, and responding to safety incidents or hazards as they arise.

1. Technical Proficiency:
   • A strong understanding of electrical systems and components, including knowledge of socket and plug designs, wiring configurations, and assembly techniques. Factory technicians should be proficient in operating machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing process, such as injection molding machines, assembly lines, and testing equipment.
2. Problem-Solving Skills:
   • The ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues or challenges that arise during the production process. Factory technicians should have strong problem-solving skills to diagnose problems, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.

   • Precision and accuracy are essential in manufacturing electrical components. Factory technicians should have a keen attention to detail to ensure that products are assembled correctly, components are installed accurately, and quality standards are met consistently.
4. Mechanical Aptitude:
   • A good understanding of mechanical systems and machinery used in the manufacturing process. Factory technicians should be mechanically inclined and capable of performing routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs, to keep equipment running smoothly.

   • The ability to adapt to changing production requirements, schedules, and priorities. Factory technicians should be flexible and able to adjust to new tasks, processes, or technologies as needed to support production goals and meet customer demands.

Requirements:

• Education: N3 Certificate in Mechanical or related trade (trade papers are an advantage)
• Experience: 2+ years in a manufacturing or mechanical environment, preferably with moulding and crimping machinery
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Proficient use of hand tools and measuring instruments (callipers, micrometres, dial indicators, etc.)
• Basic fault finding and critical thinking skills.
