Function Pharmacy Facility Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital Position Pharmacist Assistant Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital, reporting to the Senior Pharmacist. The job entails the professional supply of medication to patients, wards and theatre, as well as the procurement and handling of ethical and surgical stock.

Critical Outputs

• Receiving, checking and unpacking stock, together with checking orders against invoices.
• Acquisition, control and distribution of stock to internal units.
• Ordering pharmaceutical stock, processing of credits and stock transfers.
• Performing cycle counts and stock takes as well as capturing stock takes, investigating variances.
• Liaise with nursing staff and doctors re formulary and initiatives.
• Participate in facility’s quality programmes and initiatives.
• Dispensing, compounding under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Replacement of medication to the emergency cupboard.
• Dead stock management.
• Assist with other admin functions on a daily basis.
• Assist with daily ordering and management of stock
• Retail dispensing and cash up

Requirements

• Qualification as Post Basic Pharmacist assistant and registration with the Pharmacy council
• Hospital experience with Retail experience
• Sound understanding of SAP
• Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy legislation and regulatory framework
• Computer proficiency (CKS/Unisolve, Excel, MS Office)
• Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and in a team
• Good communication and professional relationship skills
• The successful candidate will be required to be available for weekend and public holiday duties on a rotational basis and required to be available weekdays to work evening shifts till 20:00 on a rostered basis
