Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to our laboratory team by conducting various laboratory tests and analyses, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.

• Conduct laboratory tests and analyses according to standard procedures and protocols
• Prepare and maintain samples, reagents, and other materials for testing
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; troubleshoot any issues that may arise
• Record and analyze test results; prepare reports for review by senior laboratory staff
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results by following strict quality control measures
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
• Assist with inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in the laboratory
• Collaborate with other laboratory staff and team members to achieve project goals and objectives
• Keep up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in laboratory techniques and procedures

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
• Previous experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instruments
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and procedures accurately
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility

This is a full-time permanent position based in Durban, South Africa. The laboratory operates Monday to Friday during regular business hours with occasional overtime and weekend work as needed. The successful candidate may also be required to work on projects at client sites.
