A leading fashion design firm in Seri Kembangan, Malaysia, is looking for a Fashion Design Assistant to support the creation of modern women's apparel. Candidates should have a relevant degree or diploma and experience in fashion design. The role involves assisting with sketches, collaborating on production, and staying updated on trends. Passion for fashion is essential for success in this position.
Qualifications
- Experience in fashion design with hands-on involvement.
- Prior experience in an SME is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of sewing and garment construction.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating designs for women's apparel based on trends.
- Prepare sketches and technical drawings for presentation.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure design feasibility.
- Help manage timelines for design and production phases.
Skills
Education
- Assist in the creation of new designs and collections for modern women's apparel, focusing on the latest trends and customer preferences.
- Prepare sketches, technical drawings, and mood boards to present design ideas.
- Assist in selecting fabrics, trims, and materials for each collection.
- Work under the guidance of senior designers to translate creative ideas into ready-to-wear collections.
- Collaborate with the production and merchandising teams to ensure designs are cost-effective and meet production requirements.
- Participate in design meetings, brainstorming sessions, and fittings.
- Assist with quality control and review samples to ensure designs meet brand standards.
- Provide input during production to ensure garments are manufactured accurately.
- Help manage timelines for design, sampling, and production phases.
- Has experience in fashion design, with hands-on experience in;
- Prior experience working in an SME environment is an added advantage;
- Degree or Diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field;
- Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a similar industry such as fashion retail or apparel sales;
- Basic knowledge of sewing and garment construction;
- Passion for fashion and a keen interest in staying updated on industry trends and developments.
