Job summary
A language services company is seeking a Mandarin Interpreter for a remote position in Kuala Lumpur. Responsibilities include providing interpretation between Mandarin/Cantonese and English speakers during calls, addressing various subjects including healthcare and finance. Candidates must be fluent in the mentioned languages, capable of working flexible night shifts, and ideally have qualifications in languages or healthcare. This role requires professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications
- Must have native fluency in Mandarin/Cantonese and English.
- Able to work night shifts (rotational shift, 5 days/week).
- Preferred education in languages, translation, or healthcare-related fields.
Responsibilities
- Provide language interpretation for individuals with a language barrier.
- Handle telephone or video calls on demand.
- Process information quickly and courteously.
- Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common procedures.

The Mandarin Interpreter is a WORK FROM HOME position and is responsible for handling telephone or video calls on demand and rendering the meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers of Mandarin/Cantonese and English. She/he processes information quickly and concisely, recognizes sensitive cultural differences, and is professional and courteous at all times.
The Mandarin interpreter will use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices.
The calls may involve simple or complex, non-technical or technical subjects in Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business.
- Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individual with language barrier to understand and communicate to each other
- Handling telephone or video calls on demand and renders meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers of English
