JOB PURPOSE

The Solutions Engineer – Contract Logistics will play a pivotal role in designing winning, customer‑centric logistics solutions that strengthen DP World’s market leadership in integrated supply chain services.

· This role combines engineering precision, commercial acumen, and innovation to deliver operationally feasible, cost‑effective, and sustainable solutions for new and existing customers across the global DP World network.

1. Solution Design & Business Winning

· Lead the design of end‑to‑end warehouse and distribution solutions for customer RFQs, bids, and renewals.

· Translate customer requirements into optimized layouts, process flows, storage strategies, and automation concepts.

· Develop compelling solution narratives and data‑backed value propositions that position DP World as the logistics partner of choice.

· Support business development teams with engineering models, costing, and technical content that enhance our bid competitiveness and win rate.

· Partner closely with Operations, Commercial, and IT to ensure designs are implementable, scalable, and aligned with DP World standards.

2. Engineering, Analytics & Optimization

· Build detailed models to analyze order profiles, SKU velocity, throughput,

· Create 3D and AutoCAD layouts illustrating optimal space design, MHE zoning, and picking strategies.

· Assess automation and technology enablers (e.g., AMRs, AS/RS, robotic picking, conveyors) for business cases that drive long‑term value.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure designs deliver expected ROI and KPIs.

3. Collaboration & Leadership

· Collaborate across DP World’s network of engineering, automation, and operations teams to benchmark and replicate best practices.

· Work with Finance and Procurement to define accurate cost‑to‑serve models, capex estimates, and supplier comparisons.

· Represent the technical function in customer presentations, solution walkthroughs, and bid reviews to communicate DP World’s engineering credibility and value.

· Support implementation handover to ensure smooth operational start‑up and design integrity.

· Always act as an ambassador for DP World when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

The solution engineer is critical for growth and sustaining businesses.

· Remote work – US, Canada, Mexico.

· Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, supply chain, or a related discipline.

· 1‑2 years of warehouse‑related Engineering experience in 3PL, solution design, warehouse engineering, or supply chain optimization.

· Strong expertise in:
• MS Office Suite, Visio
• AutoCAD/Sketch Up/Twin Motion or similar (layout and flow design)
• Exposure to warehouse operations/ Engineering within Tech, Consumer, FMCG, Retail market, E‑commerce sectors.

· Most Certification.

· Bilingual (Eng, Spanish, Portuguese, French).

Preferred:
• Lean Six Sigma/Green Belt certification is an advantage.

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time or as needed.

• Design and implement supply chain solutions from large scale (geographical optimization) down to small scale (design of processes and lines / stations).
• Work closely with Business Development/Account Management, Launch and Operational teams to develop and implement solutions to meet the requirements of new and existing business. Support Sales in presenting the solution to the customer through proposals, conference calls and presentations.
• Facilitate the application of lean principles. Apply lean tools, including; standardized work, 5S visual factory, total productive maintenance, pull systems, value stream mapping, and related methodologies. Recommend and implement new and/or improved error‑proofing methods and technology.
• Assist with the ongoing development and enhancement of standardized engineering tools and methods.
• Direct the implementation of work standards through time studies and other accepted methods.
• Make informed recommendations and decisions related to the purchase or lease of capital equipment, including; forklifts, tooling, lift assists, generators, compressed air systems, racking, sweepers/scrubbers, compactors, and miscellaneous items pertaining to specific projects. Manage the project engineering equipment budget and report ongoing status to Project Manager and Launch team.
• Develop concepts for use in formal customer proposals including, but not limited to, process flow diagrams, KPIs and facility layouts in complex cases with support of Engineering team.
• Prepare and initiate the pricing process by involving the vertical controller at an early stage to align on financial implications, allow ROI analysis, and to review customer specific pricing models to ensure profitability. Obtain quotes, perform cost analysis and manage contractors working on various installation and facility construction.
• Participate in interviews and evaluation of new engineering recruits, as required, and take on responsibility of ongoing training and support of these plant and corporate resources.

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Research or related fields with a strong background in engineering redesign and cost savings initiatives. APICS, CPIM a plus.
• Experience in solutions design/development within the warehousing, logistics, supply chain, or industrial engineering services industries.
• Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Visio or equivalent, and Project Management software are required. Knowledge of Excel should include pivot tables and familiarity with common formulas. Proficiency in Access, with thorough knowledge of relational database creation, queries, forms, reports, macros, and functions. Proficient in using AutoCAD to design functional workings of solutions in 3D and 2D formats. Strong knowledge and skills in network design/simulation software, e.g. CAST, Supply Chain Guru or equivalent.
• Ability to conceptualize existing operations and innovative solution designs from provided datasets and determine opportunities for improvements. Knowledgeable on state‑of‑the‑art technology and supply chain best practices.
• Ability to be flexible, effective, and productive in a fast‑paced, innovative solution development environment with strong communication skills and the ability to work with customers.
• Ability to travel at 15%.
