Job Description

Join us as a Senior Stress Engineer

Location: Derby

Staff Position

Your future team: Assystem is expanding its Stress capability and is looking for enthusiastic Senior Stress Engineers to join us. You will report to the Stress Technical Lead and work in an embedded team based at our client's site in Derby.

Your Missions

1. Provide integrity substantiation using Finite Element methods and/or Code assessment
2. Assist in calculation reviews
3. Modeling experience
4. Adhere to Assystem quality system
5. Work within man-hour budgets for assigned tasks
6. Assist in proposal writing and bidding activities if required

Successful candidates will be expected to help achieve business targets by ensuring analysis work meets quality, time, and cost requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in the nuclear industry (defense preferred) or transferable skills from other disciplines.
• Expertise in fatigue, fracture, thermal, and structural stress assessments using finite element analysis.
• Proficiency in ABAQUS (explicit/implicit) and ABAQUS/CAE or equivalent pre/post-processing tools.
• Knowledge of structural integrity & defect tolerance assessments.
• Python scripting in ABAQUS desirable.
• Experience with CRACKEN or alternative fracture assessment methods.
• Familiarity with fatigue crack growth & initiation.
• Knowledge of Gated review processes.
