Job Title: Senior Tekla Draughtsman / Aspiring Technical Manager
Location: Full-time, in-office (no remote or hybrid options). Greater London.
Salary: £65,000 depending on experience

Overview:
We are supporting a leading and long-established architectural and structural steel fabricator with over 40 years in the industry. Known for delivering high-volume, bespoke architectural steelwork projects—including staircases, balconies, and balustrades—this company partners with top-tier UK developers and is now expanding its technical team due to ongoing growth.
This opportunity is ideal for Senior Tekla Draughtsmen ready to progress into a Technical Manager role.
The position focuses on managing the technical delivery of large-scale steelwork packages, instructing and checking the work of draughtsmen, and acting as the technical lead for projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage technical delivery of architectural metalwork projects
- Coordinate with Contract Managers, architects, and engineers to ensure design compliance
- Take ownership of project breakdown using M-numbers (e.g., M1 = balcony in location X)
- Oversee draughting workflows including IFC, NGAs, and Working Drawings phases
- Review and check draughtsmen outputs for accuracy, clarity, and compliance
- Interpret and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings
- Provide instructions and technical guidance to draughtsmen based on client and design team feedback
- Ensure documentation, models, and records are properly maintained
- Ensure projects are delivered within deadlines and in line with quality and safety standards
- Provide leadership to junior team members while promoting collaboration
- Join internal and external meetings to discuss technical coordination
- Participate in resolving any design or technical issues with external stakeholders
- Maintain strong awareness of industry regulations and standards
Candidate Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience using Tekla within the architectural or structural steel industry
- Excellent proficiency in Tekla Structures and relevant inspection and drawing tools
- Sound understanding of structural engineering principles and project workflows
- Strong attention to detail and ability to clearly translate complex technical information
- Proven experience in coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in reviewing and issuing feedback on draughtsmen's work
- Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills
- Capable of working independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines
- Experience using IFC models and collaborating with external design teams
- High level of time management, organisation, and reliability
- UK-based and eligible to work full-time in the UK
