Job description
Overview

HR Consultant - Part Time/Flexible
Location: Kettering (Hybrid)
Hours: 22.5 hrs pw (Ideally Weds-Fri)
Salary: £Competitive DOE

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded HR Consultant to join a busy and growing HR consultancy. This role is ideal for a confident, hands-on HR professional who enjoys variety, autonomy, and building strong client relationships across multiple industries.

About the role

This is a part-time consultancy role (3 full days per week - could also be 5 shorter days) offering full flexibility around your personal commitments. You'll work closely with SME clients, providing expert HR advice and support across the full employee lifecycle — from day-to-day queries and employee relations to complex casework and tribunal matters.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide professional HR advice and guidance to clients via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Manage a wide range of ER casework, including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, disputes, and absence management.
  • Lead on complex employee relations cases and Employment Tribunal matters.
  • Draft, review, and implement HR policies, contracts, and handbooks.
  • Advise senior leaders on risk, compliance, and best practice, offering practical solutions tailored to each business.
  • Support clients in developing leadership capability and HR confidence within their teams.
  • Work proactively to identify new opportunities within the client base and contribute to business development.
  • Maintain accurate client records, ensuring all activity is logged and managed effectively.
What we're looking for
  • At least 10 years' experience in HR, ideally within SME environments.
  • Strong, up-to-date working knowledge of UK employment law and case law.
  • Proven experience handling complex disciplinary, grievance, and dispute resolution cases.
  • Employment Tribunal case management and hearing experience - essential.
  • Commercial approach, with a solid understanding of how HR supports business performance.
  • Excellent communicator with strong influencing and listening skills.
  • Resilient, resourceful, and comfortable advising at a senior level.
  • Able to juggle multiple clients and competing priorities with ease.
  • Confident in HR policy development, implementation, and compliance.
  • Comfortable supporting and upskilling line managers in people management.
  • Experience in business development and selling HR services, with the ability to identify opportunities and close deals.
  • A sense of humour and a collaborative mindset - essential for working in a close-knit consultancy team.
What’s on offer
  • Flexible, part-time role (3 full or 5 shorter days per week) with full flexibility around your commitments.
  • Supportive team culture that values autonomy and collaboration.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of clients and industries.
  • Competitive pay rate and opportunities for career progression into a senior role within the business.

If you're an experienced HR professional with solid tribunal experience and a passion for helping businesses manage people the right way, we'd love to hear from you.
