This role is within the Mortgages CIO function under CT (Customer Technology), part of the wider COO organisation, responsible for delivering IT solutions focused on our customers and colleagues.

You will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of the roadmap supporting our Integration and Migration Strategy. You will collaborate closely with Principal Engineers and the Technology Lead to provide leadership and support to our Engineering teams.

As a Lead Engineer, you will ensure our systems and platforms are designed, developed, and tested to be resilient and secure, aligned with our strategy, and adhering to good engineering practices and principles. This role is within the Mortgages CIO function, primarily providing mortgages via brokers, online, and API channels. We are expanding our propositions in the Home and Landlord space as part of our integration efforts.

What you’ll be doing

1. Leading a team delivering solutions in an Agile environment, adopting DevOps practices for rapid iteration and continuous improvement.
2. Collaborating with Lead Engineers and the Technology Lead to ensure solutions are resilient and capable of supporting thousands of users daily.
3. Mentoring and developing team members to enhance our development processes and strategies.
4. Fostering proactive habits and building relationships to improve efficiency and speed.
5. Engaging actively in learning new skills and areas with support from the organization.
6. Managing capability development, coaching, performance, and pastoral care within your team.
7. Participating in the implementation, administration, and support of new initiatives, including VM integration.
8. Creating technical design documents from functional specifications.

Provide technical expertise throughout the delivery lifecycle, offering leadership and consultancy to stakeholders.

About you

• Extensive experience managing Mortgage Sales systems and processing.
• Knowledge of creating and managing Micro-UIs.
• Experience leading small teams.
• Proven track record of adopting emerging technologies, both on-premise and cloud-based.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, DevOps, containerization, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with API engineering, workflow tools, middleware, and mortgage domain applications.
• Background in banking and financial services, especially mortgages or lending products.
• Hands-on experience with delivery methodologies, DevOps tools like Jenkins, Harness, Ansible, Artifactory, Dynatrace, etc.
