Job summary
A leading compliance firm in Leeds is seeking a Compliance Officer to manage regulatory compliance. You will conduct monitoring, manage issues, and implement best practices. Ideal candidates should have a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks like SMCR and ICOBS, alongside strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills. This permanent role offers a salary of up to £60k plus bonus.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of the regulatory framework, particularly SMCR and ICOBS.
- Ability to identify opportunities for efficiency and develop internal controls.
- Transferable compliance experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct monitoring in line with the compliance monitoring plan.

Compliance Officer role, key information:
- Permanent role paying up to £60k + bonus
- 3 days in 2 from home
- Solid understanding of the regulatory framework, particularly SMCR and ICOBS, and their application within the business.
- Working knowledge of compliance monitoring
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct monitoring in line with the compliance monitoring plan
- Escalate major issues and highlight trends to the Compliance Manager or Head of Compliance
- Implement best practice strategies and gain knowledge of office-specific business activities
- Contribute to the development of the Compliance function’s strategy
- Drive development of Management Information and Business Insights
- Consider the impact of regulatory matters or changes on the business, regulators, insurance market, or European Commission
- Horizon scanning and identification of emerging regulatory issues
- Ensure robust procedures to mitigate regulatory risk
- Regulatory submissions via Connect, Gabriel, and other FCA notifications as required
- Record breaches and complaints, maintain records, and implement lessons learned and corrective actions
Person requirements:
- Understanding of the regulatory framework, particularly SMCR and ICOBS
- Knowledge of compliance monitoring
- Ability to identify opportunities for efficiency and develop internal controls
- Relevant transferable compliance experience
- Effective relationship-building skills
- Professional and tactful negotiation skills
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Problem-solving skills, including resolving complex issues
- Ability to analyze and interpret management information for decision-making
