Roads Inspector – Asset & Performance Team

Salary: £33,287 - £39,129

Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks

A new opportunity has arisen for a Roads Inspector with the Asset & Performance Team, based normally at Waverley Court in Edinburgh, but with the majority of the role based on site.

The role will include a varied mix of operational and strategic aspects, reflecting the outcomes in the Council's Risk Based Approach to Safety Inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out condition inspections of roads and footways throughout the city using the nationally adopted system for assessing pavement management condition (UKPMS).
  • Record the data obtained manually or on a suitable data capture unit and download the information into computer databases.
  • Represent the Council on local roads, footways and other infrastructure issues, engaging and communicating with the public on issues involving the condition of the road network.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
