The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated CMM Programmer / Inspector to join the Quality and Metrology team.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring that complex aerospace components meet strict dimensional and quality standards. You will develop and maintain CMM programs, perform detailed inspections, and work closely with production and quality teams to resolve any dimensional or process issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and write CMM programs using metrology software such as PC-DMIS or equivalent.
  • Program and operate portable CMMs and FARO arms where applicable.
  • Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D model specifications.
  • Produce detailed inspection reports, highlighting non-conformities and providing feedback to engineering and production teams.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and ensure all measuring equipment and tools are in full working order and within calibration requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models with a thorough understanding of GD&T.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI), batch inspections, and documentation in line with aerospace standards.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality departments to resolve dimensional or process issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across inspection methods, reporting tools, and metrology processes.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues in inspection techniques and best practices when required.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of three years experience in dimensional inspection or CMM programming within aerospace or precision engineering.
  • Proficient in PC-DMIS or similar CMM programming software.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Desirable
  • Experience working in a Tier 1 aerospace manufacturing environment.
