At flowkey, the Product-Led Growth team is dedicated to crafting features that help new users fall in love with learning piano — from their very first interaction. We focus on removing friction and surfacing value early to guide millions of users toward their first 'aha' moment with flowkey.

As a Software Engineer on this team, you'll work with a small, cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product thinkers to create high-performing, joyful experiences that drive user activation, engagement, and conversion.

Your work will center on helping new users get started, form habits, and become active subscribers. We work across platforms — iOS and Android (React Native) and web (React) — and validate ideas through A/B testing to ensure real impact.

In close collaboration with product, design, data, and copy, we aim to grow flowkey in ways that are both user-centered and sustainable.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy self-directed work in a tight-knit team, have a strong grasp of modern web and backend technologies, and care deeply about performance and user experience. You bring curiosity, creativity, and a hands-on mindset — and you’re motivated by solving meaningful problems in ways that benefit both our users and the business.

Essential:

• Solid problem-solving skills and a creative, analytical mindset
• High proficiency in TypeScript, along with strong HTML and CSS fundamentals
• Strong experience with React and Next.js
• Proven ability to build and ship backend features using Node.js (e.g. Express) and databases like MongoDB
• A hands-on, learn-by-doing attitude — you're comfortable working with uncertainty or trying out new ideas
• Openness to feedback and a willingness to share what you learn with others

Bonus points:

• Experience working with subscription platforms like Apple App Store, Google Play, Stripe, or Braintree
• Familiarity with A/B testing tools and a data-informed approach to product development
• Exposure to React Native or native mobile development (iOS/Android)
• Comfort with Swift, cloud services, or CI/CD pipelines
• Contributions to open source projects, or an interest in getting involved
• Passion for music

Experience in any particular technology or process is far less important to us than the ability to learn quickly, turn ideas into solid code, and easily ramp up in new areas.
