The Department of Sociology is inviting applications to teach courses in Winter 2026. Please complete the online application form and upload a CV and cover letter. The cover letter should contain the following information:

SOCI 254 – Development and Underdevelopment. Competing theories about the causes of underdevelopment in the poor countries. Topics include the impact of geography, the population explosion, culture and national character, economic and sexual inequalities, democracy and dictatorship. Western imperialism and multi-national corporations, reliance on the market, and development through local participation, cooperation, and appropriate technology.

January 5 – April 14, 2026: Tuesday & Thursday (11:35 am – 12:55 pm) Location: Leacock 219

Education: Priority will be given to Ph.D. students near the completion of their degree.

Experience: Successful completion of area exam in Development and Social Change within the last five years and/or prior experience as a teaching assistant for SOCI 254.

This course will be taught by one instructor in-person.
