This position supports the Director of Fire and Emergency Services in all aspects of operations related to the Walkerton & Elmwood Fire Departments. It coordinates, oversees, and participates in fire prevention, public education, and inspection programs and evaluates program successes. The Deputy Chief is responsible for the enforcement of fire service legislation such as the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, the Ontario Building Code, and applicable NFPA codes, ULC standards and applicable by‑laws. The position also coordinates and implements prevention/public education initiatives and conducts comprehensive fire prevention inspections of all classes of buildings and occupancies.
