Technical Support Officer (Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Science) - 1 yr contract

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Support Officer to join our Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Science Cluster. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting academic and laboratory operations, ensuring smooth delivery of practical sessions and maintaining high standards of safety and functionality across our facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting laboratory classes, workshops, and events by preparing equipment and materials.
  • Assisting academic staff in supervising students during practical sessions and activities.
  • Conducting trial runs and assisting with demonstrations for practical classes.
  • Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, equipment readiness, and overall upkeep.
  • Managing inventory, procurement, and administrative tasks related to chemicals, consumables, and assets.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting and coordinating with vendors for equipment repairs.
  • Ensuring compliance with QEHS and WSH guidelines during audits and inspections.
  • Providing technical assistance during internal and external events hosted by the cluster.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives for lab operations and safety standards.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on individual with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical science and a passion for supporting academic excellence.

Ideal candidates should have:

  • A Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience operating pharmaceutical equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and laboratory practices.
  • Up to one year of experience as a laboratory technician
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic and technical teams.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including supporting events outside regular hours.
  • A problem-solving mindset and ability to handle technical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and procurement processes is a plus.
