Salary: $11,479 / course (including vacation pay).

The Department of Sociology is inviting applications to teach courses in winter 2026. Please complete the online application form and upload a CV and cover letter. The cover letter should contain the following information:

  • Area examinations completed along with date of completion
  • Previous TA or course lecturer experience for the course(s) for which you are applying

Applications will be ranked according to the collective agreement between McGill University and the MCLIU. Preference will be given to the qualified applicant with the most priority points.

Course Details:

SOCI 211 – Sociological Inquiry: An introductory review of methods of sociological research including research design, elementary quantitative data analysis, observation, and use of official statistics. Detailed examination of published examples of the use of each of the major techniques of data analysis and collection.

Teaching Schedule: January 5 – April 14, 2026: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (8:35 – 9:25 am), Location: Duff Medical Building – theatre 1

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Education: Priority will be given to Ph.D. students near the completion of their degree.

Experience: Successful completion of both area exams within the last five years and/or prior experience as a teaching assistant for SOCI 211.
