A First Nation community is seeking a Community Initiatives Coordinator to enhance well-being through various programs. Responsibilities include managing community events, collaborating with health teams, and preparing detailed budgets. The Community Initiatives Coordinator is a key member of the M’Chigeeng First Nation Health and Wellness Department. This role is responsible for managing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a variety of community initiatives designed to enhance the well-being of community members across all age groups. The coordinator will lead activities such as the annual winter carnival, summer fun days, regalia workshops, moose hunt, historic drone show, and youth and elders’ gatherings. In addition, the coordinator will collaborate with the Health and Wellness Team to plan, execute, and assess new initiatives for infants, children, youth, families, and elders, supporting the department’s mission to foster a vibrant, healthy community.
Note: Department: Health and Wellness Department; Classification/Level: CS-3; Employment Status: Full-Time Term (Date of Hire to March 31, 2027).
The Community Initiatives Coordinator reports directly to the Health and Wellness Department Manager and works closely with program staff, finance personnel, and other stakeholders involved in community wellness efforts.
Key Responsibilities
The coordinator will be responsible for developing comprehensive work plans for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 fiscal years, outlining goals, timelines, resource needs, and evaluation metrics for each initiative. The coordinator will be required to develop tools to measure the success and outcomes of all community initiatives. Budget management includes preparing and monitoring budgets, ensuring expenditures align with approved plans, and assisting the Finance Department with financial documentation and reporting.
Accurate, timely documentation is essential. The coordinator will use the Caseworks case management system to record initiative activities, participant data, and outcomes. Monthly and quarterly reports will be compiled and submitted to department leadership and, where applicable, to funding agencies.
This role requires close collaboration with the Health and Wellness Team, Finance Department, community partners, and external organizations to ensure that initiatives are well-planned, inclusive, and successful. The coordinator will participate in regular team meetings and planning sessions, contribute to shared goals, and support the overall health and wellness strategy of the M’Chigeeng First Nation.
