Job description
Job Summary:

This position supports the box office and ticketing operation for the arts at UW-Madison for all ticketed events at the Wisconsin Union Theater. The ideal candidate is proficient in using ticketing software for live events and has a proven track record of HTML, computer coding, the backend of website building and maintenance, and data management (collection, tracking, storage, analysis, and reporting).

Campus Arts Ticketing provides resources for marketing and selling admissions to various arts events in multiple venues on and near the UW-Madison campus, as well as various university departments and local performing arts groups. Campus Arts Ticketing is housed, managed, and operated within the Wisconsin Union Theater and is part of the Theater's source of earned revenue. The Arts Ticketing Website System Administrator is responsible for building, implementing, and maintaining all Campus Arts Ticketing websites and events within the computerized ticketing system (currently AudienceView).

This position reports directly to the Box Office Manager.


Responsibilities:
Provides multidisciplinary information technology (IT) services to support routine to moderately complex IT functionality according to work unit or program's business goals and objectives.

  • 30% Answers routine to moderately complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access

  • 30% Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware, configurations, multimedia, and software applications for various environments and business needs

  • 20% Researches potential technology purchases and makes recommendations to leadership according to work unit business needs and requests

  • 5% Serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact regarding identified applications to stakeholders, and responds to inquiries and answers complex questions

  • 5% Assist with data collection, compilation, tracking, analyzing, and reporting as needed

  • 5% Assist with box office and event operations on occasion

  • 5% Builds events, venue seat maps, web pages, and all related information necessary for campus arts departments, student organizations, and other clients using our ticketing services

Qualifications:

Required:
-Knowledge and experience with the backend of websites, information technology focusing on Customer Relationship Management software, databases, report building, and creating new functions in a ticketing software system
- Understanding of how ticketing systems and operations work from a technical, functional, and customer experience - AudienceView ticketing system, or event ticketing system
- Experience with ticketing services and box office operations
- Strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously, and a proactive approach to their work
- Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:
Previous experience in a performing arts venue and working in a higher educational setting is a plus.


Work Schedule:

The core hours for this position are M-F, 9am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

The Wisconsin Union Theater consists of two performance venues and one rehearsal/dance studio. All spaces have fully sprung stage floors, state-of-the-art sound, lighting and technical systems.

Campus Arts Ticketing is a service provided by the Wisconsin Union Theater for the campus by selling tickets in two permanent and multiple satellite locations. Tickets and subscriptions are sold for the Wisconsin Union Theater campus, departments, student organizations, and community groups. In total approximately 100,000 tickets are distributed annually.

Through a student-led programming committee, the Wisconsin Union Theater presents a season consisting of 30 events in music, theater, dance, and more. Additionally, the Theater hosts numerous campus events, including graduations, lectures, conferences, and performances by university and community departments and organizations.

The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.

Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide identity-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.
