PROJECT TECHNOLOGIST:

Salary Range: $77,381.86 - $89,848.11 annually

Position Summary

The Project Technologist, under the direction of the assigned Manager, is responsible for ensuring that all projects developed and administered by BC Housing comply with the appropriate Design and Construction Standards. Responsibilities include conducting annual site inspections, overseeing unit turnover processes, and required renovations. This role also involves providing corrective and preventative maintenance services, diagnosing problems, assisting managers with budget monitoring, and providing technical support to regional staff. The incumbent prepares plans, drawings, and specifications for tenders, monitors work of inspectors and contractors, and collaborates with Asset Strategies for maintenance planning.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • A diploma from a Building, Engineering or Architectural Technology Program or equivalent, qualifying as an Applied Science Technologist.
  • Progressive experience in a similar role, including contract administration and building inspections.
  • Training in project management, building envelope principles, industry standards, and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of the BC Building Code, Municipal approval procedures, and building inspection.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and construction software.
  • A valid BC Driver’s Licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends.
  • Eligibility for professional designation as an Engineer, Architect, Technologist, or equivalent.
  • Criminal Record Check clearance.
