Senior Tailings Engineer – Pr.Eng.
Job summary
A leading recruitment firm seeks an experienced Engineer of Record specializing in tailings dams and geotechnical engineering. This role requires at least 10 years of experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. The candidate must be willing to relocate to Dubai for full-time employment. A professional registration and advanced degree in the relevant field are essential.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in tailings dams and geotechnical engineering.
- Experience as or supporting the Engineer of Record (EoR) on major TSF projects.
- Willingness to relocate to Dubai full-time.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EoR) for TSF design and operational management.
- Lead geotechnical designs and risk assessments for tailings structures.
- Mentor junior engineers in the tailings and geotechnical group.

Key Responsibilities :
Serve as Engineer of Record (EoR) or technical advisor for TSF design, construction, and operational management
Lead and review geotechnical designs, risk assessments, and performance monitoring programs for tailings structures
Provide expert input on dam safety inspections, instrumentation data analysis, and mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g. GISTM, CDA, ANCOLD) and regional regulatory frameworks
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory bodies
Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level engineers in the tailings and geotechnical group
Prepare technical reports, proposals, and client presentations
Requirements :
Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration (South Africa or internationally recognized equivalent)
Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience , with a strong focus on tailings dams and geotechnical engineering
Proven experience acting as or supporting the Engineer of Record (EoR) on major TSF projects
Strong knowledge of geotechnical software and slope stability modelling tools (e.g., GeoStudio, FLAC, PLAXIS)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to relocate to and reside in Dubai full-time
Ability to travel to remote mine sites on a scheduled basis
Preferred Qualifications :
MSc or higher in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
Experience in arid and desert geotechnical environments
Familiarity with environmental and social governance (ESG) best practices in tailings
