Main Purpose
The main purpose of the position is to continuously develop and grow the Thermal Power Solutions (steam turbines, gearboxes and turbo generator sets) business throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reports
Submit monthly sales reports.
Submit customer sales visit reports.
Maintain and update customer database.
General
Assist with customer queries.
Monitor project developments and prospects within the market sectors where Thermal Power Solutions and equipment are utilized.
Attend regular Sales and Project meetings, both within the department and with other sales departments within the business.
Participate in exhibitions and trade shows within the Thermal Power market.
Continuously improving internal systems and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Matric
Minimum of 5 years sales and business development experience specifically related to steam turbines, gearboxes and turbo generator sets (Thermal Power Solutions).
Strong sales driven background, with proven track record of securing business and improving sales turnover.
Have experience and be familiar with travelling within sub-Saharan Africa.
Good level of computer literacy, specifically MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Good negotiation and presentation skills.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Special Requirements
Valid passport.
A legal driver licence.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and making presentations.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation.
Willingness and freedom to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays away from home base.
Hard working, resourceful, ambitious and have excellent business acumen.
Be able to negotiate and close deals.
Working Conditions
Mostly out of the office. Position requires frequent travel, both in South Africa and throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
Must be able to work with limited supervision.
