A leading medical center in Pretoria is seeking an experienced pharmacist to manage the pharmacy department. The role requires overseeing pharmaceutical stock, ensuring financial integrity, and delivering quality services to both the hospital and the public. Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience in pharmacy practice along with supervisory experience. Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and risk management is critical. This position offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a vital healthcare environment.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To ensure an efficient and professional pharmaceutical service is provided to the hospital and public KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Lead and manage the people in the department Manage pharmaceutical stock (own, loan and consignment) Manage and mitigate departmental risks Manage and control departmental budgets / finances Deliver a safe and efficient pharmaceutical service Provide an out-patient pharmacy service REQUIRED EDUCATION ESSENTIAL EDUCATION Masters / B Pharm / BSc Pharm REQUIRED EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 5-7 years working as a pharmacist in a community or institutional / hospital pharmacy 3-5 years supervisory or managerial experience in an institutional / hospital pharmacy REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Risk management processes and procedures Pharmacy and related healthcare industry Financial management Ethical and surgical product knowledge Relevant Pharmacy legislation (e.g. Pharmacy Act; Good pharmacy practice; Medicine Control Act of
