Position

Registered Nurse – SICU

Location & Reporting

Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga. Reports to Unit Manager Ella Masimula.

Overview

Qualified & experienced Registered Nurse responsible for driving quality patient care within the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) in line with clinical protocols and hospital strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effective cost management for staff and stock by evaluating employee labour hours, managing debit and credit hours, and minimizing unnecessary stock wastage while facilitating equipment maintenance.
  • Providing quality patient care by identifying staff micro‑orientation needs, ensuring daily care rounds are conducted, investigating complaints, providing accurate information to patients and families, and assisting doctors with daily cases and procedures.
  • Providing effective risk management (SHEQ & infection control) by monitoring and implementing preventative measures, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and complying with ISO requirements.
  • Conducting effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders by identifying doctors’ preferences and stakeholders’ needs and implementing them in the working environment.
Requirements
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
  • ICU qualification required.
  • Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body.
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry is an advantage.
