Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring a Project Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team at our Johannesburg, South Africa office. This position reports to the Project Financial Support Group Manager and is responsible for reviewing and approving project setups, ensuring that contracts, project plans, work breakdown structures, and resource allocations are in place. Qualified candidates will be proficient with accounting systems.

Responsibilities

1. Review and approve project setups according to companywide project fundamentals, ensuring contracts, project plans, work breakdown structures, and resource allocations are in place.
2. Prepare accurate and timely billings.
3. Review contract invoicing and pricing terms, and enter accurate billing terms into the Management Information System (MIS).
4. Contact clients' accounting representatives for invoicing requirements before issuing the first invoice.
5. Maintain contact with client representatives during the billing process, including subconsultants.
6. Correct misapplied time and expenses within the MIS, coordinating approvals and documenting transfers for audit purposes.
7. Assist project managers with billing and collection monitoring.
8. Handle billing voids and write-offs with appropriate approvals.
9. Maintain project invoice and contract files, as well as subconsultant documentation.
10. Assist in completing lien waivers and release of claims forms.
11. Ensure proper project close-out procedures are followed, verifying data accuracy in the MIS.
12. Monitor subconsultant contracts, invoicing, insurance certificates, and related documents for completeness and proper linkage.
13. Assist in reviewing Woolpert PSA contracts and external client contracts, as well as change orders, providing follow-up with clients.
14. Review collection issues, maintain AR ledger comments, and contact clients regarding outstanding payments.
15. Update unbilled reports monthly, indicating reasons for WIP holds or write-offs.
16. Verify contract signing authority and update unexecuted contract statuses in the MIS.
17. Ensure CSP process adherence.
18. Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Accounting or related degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or BCom Honors Accounting with 2 years of experience.
• Ability to work US hours between 14:00 and 23:00.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and report generation.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, and familiarity with Adobe products and internet research.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to build positive relationships, and collaborate effectively.
• Strong analytical, attention to detail, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and make timely decisions.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally.
