Our client is looking for a General Manager (GM) to lead the overall strategy and direction of the business and to drive growth, while ensuring the functionality and sustainability of the company through continuous cost efficiency improvements. This includes repositioning the companyas a strategic partner to clients, leveraging data and market intelligence to deliver actionable insights that enable business growth. The GM must champion a culture of innovation, proactively developing services beyond logistics to include informal marketing advisory and retail performance enablement.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
• Develop and implement the company’s strategic plan, aligning with the Group’s vision and goals.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, build relationships with key customers and partners, and drive revenue growth.
• Develop and manage the company's budget and execute strategies to increase revenue ensuring financial sustainability and profitability.
• Build, motivate, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and customer-centricity.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the business, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, employees and business partners.
• Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient and timely delivery services.
• Maintaining existing business and long-term client relationships by understanding evolving needs and offering new enhanced services.
• Implementing strategies to secure new clients and increase revenue from untapped market
• Identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, closing deals and overseeing the execution of long-term contracts.
• Monitor and analyse customer feedback, preferences and sales data to determine the focus of sales efforts.
• Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information and tailor proposals, such as selling strategies or marketing information that meet client needs and business objectives
• Build and lead a data-driven capability within the business that actively analyses regional and retail trends to provide strategic selling insights to clients.
• Serve as an informal marketing advisor to customers, helping them understand which products perform best where, and what strategies could boost sales across locations.
• Position company as a thought leader in the retail distribution space by creating insight reports, case studies, and performance dashboards for key clients.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Relevant tertiary business qualification is essential
• A minimum of 5-7 years of senior leadership experience in merchandising/retail sales
• Experience in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Demonstrated experience in customer engagement strategies, business intelligence, or data-driven sales enablement will be highly advantageous.
